IDA

SG Ida Von Den Caerosen IGP1 DOB 9/18/2018
We brought Ida in from Germany this year, considering ourselves lucky to have found her available. She is a short coat sable German shepherd weighing 75 lbs. She is a big female German shepherd. Both of her parents are beautiful sable IPO 3’s from Germany. IPO 3 is the highest level of training. It involves German shepherd tracking, obedience, decision-making, and protection. Ida’s score of 278 on the IGP1 Test is very good!
We do such training to prove our claims of superior intelligence, cooperative personality, vigor, health, and friendly dog. It also demonstrates our claim that our dogs have an “on/off switch”.
Ida is super friendly, with a happy disposition and high-ball drive, but with that important on/off switch. Importantly, she is good with children, cats, and small dogs. Her screening for Hip Dysplasia was A (excellent, no dysplasia) and her elbows are Normal. She is DM N (negative, or clear).

MIRA

Mango from WRF “Mira” is a stunning black and red long coat female. At about 75 pounds, Mira is a slightly above average sized female, with an even more over sized personality. Everyone who meets Mira falls in love immediately with both her stunning looks, and her exuberant and fun loving personality. Mira is super playful, and always up for a good time, but can become all business when called upon. As a trained diabetic detection service dog, Mira also displays exceptional obedience and intelligence. With rock steady nerves, Mira frequents many places with her handler, including concerts, casinos, county fairs, and anywhere else necessary to perform her service. Mira embodies all attributes of the perfect German shepherd, and we expect her puppies to do so as well!

CIRA

SG Cira Von Den Drei Schwarzen Eichen AD WeT DOB: 9/3/2019
Cira is another of our German shepherds from Germany, where she was bred. CIRA is a rare black german shepherd long coat, weighing in at 70 lb.
Her pups are much sought after. Photos do not begin to show her stunning beauty. As with all blacks, her coat absorbs light making it difficult to capture detail.
Skeptical of strangers on first meeting, Cira warms up quickly once she
gets to know someone. This is exactly what most of our buyers are looking for. High-ball drive, playful disposition with those she knows, and high food drive, are her traits. Cira is protective of those she considers family. She is good with cats and small dogs. Both of her parents are beautiful and rare long coat IPO 3’s in Germany.

IRIS

Iris Vom Reiss DOB: 11/19/2019 Bred in USA. black stock coat German shepherd, is a daughter of Quantum, one of the very best dogs in the entire USA; his bio is here in the Sires section. She certainly exhibits his qualities: very good bone development, sweet disposition, and anxious to please! She is a very intelligent and trainable, playful dog, as would be expected of a Quantum daughter. Her confirmation is correct, yet she differs from Quantum in that she is tall and large overall at 70 LB.
Iris is a very loving, good-sized female. She is a very intelligent German shepherd and learns anything you set out to teach her very quickly. The female German shepherd can quickly adapt to new settings and adjusts her energy level to meet whatever is appropriate for her current environment. She has a moderate ball and food drive. KARMA

Hartman’s Karma. DOB: 12/14/2019. German shepherd from the Czech Republic, born in the USA to our Karenina. If you are wondering how that happened, we bought her mother, Karenina, from a small German shepherd breed her to the great Xolatan. She went into heat before she could be shipped, so they held her for about 10 more days, bred her, and then shipped Karinina to us pregnant. Karma was our pick of the litter. That was two years ago. Karma passed all her health qualifiers and is now ready to join our breeding adults.
Karma is small by our standards, but the Europeans are trending toward smaller GSDs in general: females in the ’60s (pounds) and males 20-25 pounds heavier. She is a solid black stock coat dog and is said that she carries a long coat. That means if she is bred to a male that also is the long coat or carries that gene, some pups will be long coats.
Karma is a happy, fun-loving girl! She has high play drive, and an intense desire to please in anything asked of her. Quick to learn whatever is being taught, she is a typically smart and sweet daughter of Karenina, and the great German stud Xoltan Vom Peroh IPO 3.
She does not have hip or elbow dysplasia or the DM gene (DM Clear).

KARININA EUROPEAN K9 TRAINING BASE, BH, SG, KKL1, ZVV1 (IPO)

SG Karenina European K9 Training Base BH ZVV1 DOB: 11/19/2017 She Czech Republic German shepherd. We call her the 55 lb “Pocket Rocket”! She is our smallest German shepherd breed. She can produce miniature German shepherds as well as long coat pups. Karinina is 100% pure love. She will present herself with a strong bark to strangers on the property, but quickly becomes their good friend once introduced by her trusted handler. She has a strong food and moderate ball drive. Karinina has found her true calling as a service dog (blood sugar detection) showing an unflappable attitude in all settings from parks to casinos and concerts, nothing shakes her focus or her steady nerves. Good with children, small dogs, and cats. Karinina has proven to produce puppies with incredible trainability, and who shares her exceptional disposition.
As her IPO1 title indicates, she is a flat-backed, working line dog, as all our dogs are. We used to be able to just say a dog was European and that meant flat-backed, working line, but sadly no more. For reasons that we can’t explain the Europeans are now following the Americans into show dog lines. From our perspective, this is madness! So, now some European GSDs are sloped back, show dogs; bred for a “beauty” standard that we don’t even think is beautiful, instead of a work function which is always a subset of intelligence. Thank God for the Czechs! We have a trusted source in the Czech Republic who feels the same way we do about our Shepherds and are a family-owned kennel like us. We got Karinina as bred and trained by them.
Karinina clearly has the intelligence and drive for higher-level training BUT importantly, has an “off” switch. This means that her usual demeanor is as a family-friendly companion dog eager to get her next command and have energetic fun with the family who is her “pack”. Turn the switch and she is a serious working dog, fully focused on the task at hand. This high-performance dog can, upon command, go right back to being a family pet. Her pups will exhibit this wonderful trait as well. More and more of our clients are having their pup trained in Search and Rescue. It is a wonderful family activity and, once certified, can be a valuable community function when called upon by authorities to find a lost person. Our dogs always excel at this and are at the top of their class. No wonder, S&R requires decision making and our dogs are smart!
Karinina has a higher ball drive than our other females. Ball drive is a measure of the dog’s eagerness to play hard. This is an essential trait in higher-level training. The ball becomes the reward for the pup in training. For the client who wants a dog for training beyond basic obedience, ball drive is what they are looking for. Karinina is a medium but strongly built female with A1 hips and good elbows. Her litters are sold out before they are born. HD A1 ED Normal Spine Clear DM N

ANOSHI

Hartman’s Anoshi, DOB: 12/5/2016 Anoshi was a German shepherd original breed from USA and is a sable long coat weighing 60 lb. Anoshi was our first sable long coat German shepherd and fuelled our deep love of these long-haired beauties! She has a high ball/play drive, but also the ability to “turn it off” and settle as a great house pet at will. With super high intelligence, Anoshi takes to training with ease. Best guard dog with strangers, she is a great protector, but will warm up to people when given the ok by “her” humans. Anoshi has become one of our most reliable producers of phenomenal family dogs and has several of her offspring in search and rescue homes! Anoshi’s sire Rush Vom Kaftwerk * was a working police K9 with an upstate NY police force until his recent retirement, and her dam was a wonderful wheelchair assist service dog! Anoshi took on all the best traits from both of her wonderful parents.
She possesses a good, but manageable drive, ideal for training, and a wonderful loving disposition that allows her to get along with all ages of people and co-exist in a multi dog and cat home environment. She is a much-loved family pet first and foremost. Anoshi has excellent house manners. All Upstate Gertman Shepherds, puppies are raised in the house, with constant interaction with multiple people, and other pets in the home. We feel this produces a well-socialized puppy, that can transition into its new family more easily upon weaning. OFA HD good ED Normal DM N

*Mishka is the mother of Anoshi. Rush is Anoshi’s father. Rush is from Rommel x Mercedes. Therefore, Anoshi is second generation Upstate German Shepherds.

AGNES (RETIRED)

RETIRED
Agnes Darkness Marsyas Bohemian, BH, SG, KKL1, ZVV1 (IPO1) DOB: 11/9/2016 Agnes is our second fabulous German shepherd from the Czech Republic. She is very similar to Karinina, but larger; she weighs 70 lb. She is a bi-colored Stock coat German shepherd but can produce black pups. Agnes has the same field trial titles as Karinina and the same calm demeanor. As her IPO1 title indicates, she is a flat-backed, working line dog, as all our dogs are.
The most recent trend in European Schutzhund breeding is to reduce the size of the dog to enable superior agility; Agnes is bred in that vein and smaller German shepherd. She weighs in at a lean 70 pounds but is still big-boned and strong. That makes her noticeably smaller than Lexus and Mercedes but with the same large, wide head that characterizes well-bred GSDs. You will start to notice Shepherds that are long-legged with pointy heads and snouts like a coyote. We consider them unfortunately not well-bred.
Agnes is a high ball and high food drive dog who takes well to all training. She presents with a strong alert bark when strangers enter the property but will settle on a simple command and is happy to meet new people with her trusted handler. Agnes’s favorite people in the world are children! She is super gentle and loving towards any children she has the pleasure to meet! Agnes currently competes in 4-H dog obedience in between litters with the owner’s son, and he is her preferred person. She is well behaved in all settings including obedience classes full of other dogs and people. Agnes is good with small dogs and tolerates cats.
Most of our buyers want a friendly companion dog they can trust with the children and grandchildren yet has a protective instinct. That EXACTLY describes Agnes! She has perfect house manners and high ball drive with a strong, full grip in protection training. I emphasize that we don’t breed for beauty, but one cannot help but notice that Agnes has perfect form-to-function conformation.
I’ve said this before: Thank God for the Czechs! We have trusted sources in the Czech Republic who feel the same way we do about our Shepherds and are family-owned kennels like us. We got Agnes as bred and trained by them.
Like Karinina, Agnes clearly has the intelligence and drive for higher-level training BUT importantly, has an “off” switch. This means that her usual demeanor is a family-friendly companion dog eager to get her next command and have energetic fun with the family who is her “pack”. Turn the switch and she is a serious working dog, fully focused on the task at hand. This high-performance dog can, upon command, go right back to being a family pet. MERCEDES (GOLDY) – OUR BEAUTIFUL LADY (RETIRED)

RETIRED
Mercedes has a very similar appearance to her larger mate, Rommel. She is true black sable, rare German shepherd breed. She has been trained black sable German shepherd in Amsterdam and the US as a personal protection dog. See the video of her in action below.
You want her by your side and on your side. She is royal in the best sense of the word and as true as a companion can be. Her pronounced play drive is shown by a high desire for the ball. She can execute the obedience exercises with great speed and determination. These German lines lead to dogs that are one-of-a-kind in protection and in sweetness in disposition. The large Belgian Malinois preferred by some military trainers, while superb for that work, cannot transition to family pets upon command like a German Shepherd Dog. Mercedes illustrates this very point. Her two favorite activities are retrieving a tetherball and getting long hugs from me.
Mercedes is fast with boundless energy and a German shepherd’s sense of smell. She is amazingly quick. And now she has proven to be a wonderful mother. Her male pups are Rommel all over, her females are the picture of her.

LEXUS – OUR BEAUTIFUL GIRL (RETIRED)

RETIRED
This very feminine female is a highly unusual jet black German shepherd. In the warm weather, her undercoat is black cherry. Feminine means that her overall confirmation is not as stout as my other two GSD. She has the ideal slender Schultzhund build. She is so perfectly black it is difficult to get a picture of her with much detail! Simply put, she just shines. She is an intelligent breed of a German shepherd, an outstanding athlete, with a vertical jump that will astonish you. Lexus has unsurpassed intelligence. She might be the brightest dog I have ever owned (and yes, I’ve had a border collie). She has great trainability and the genetic capability to learn quickly. Often one repetition is all that is needed to teach her a move.
She exhibits superior bonding capability with the handler and is naturally guidable; she follows the obedience commands without hesitation. I will tell you; she has a sassy attitude. If you like a dog with a “big” personality, her pups are for you. Lexus does not back down. She plays so rough with Rommel you would think they are wild wolves. Her bark, another trait bred into these fine GSD, is so fierce, it will scare off most people/animals you would want to be scared off. There’s not a coyote in the state of New York that dares enter my yard! Lexus typifies the decades of selection and training at the very highest levels by people who have made dog breeding their life’s work. This long labor has the result of providing you with the most desirable of family pets.
